Scoliosis Care in Walnut Creek

Two Attainable Goals

photo of childrenOur primary goal in working with Walnut Creek scoliosis care patients is to quickly stop the progression of the condition. The secondary goal is reversal of the abnormal curvature, as much as the body will allow.

Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that occurs most commonly before puberty. Its cause is unknown. Most cases of scoliosis are mild, but some children develop spinal abnormalities and deformities that become more severe as they grow older. Severe scoliosis can be disabling.

Research has shown that standard chiropractic adjusting most likely will not offset scoliosis in a positive way, but combined with a technique called Chiropractic BioPhysics®, significant correction is attainable.

How Does Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP) Work?

A detailed history, comprehensive examination and specific X-rays will help us to address all of the tissues involved in spinal scoliosis. CBP® emphasizes step-by-step structural rehabilitation, including:

  • An initial period of chiropractic relief care to reduce pain intensity and frequency and increase spinal range of motion
  • Mirror Image® exercises designed to stretch and strengthened shortened muscles that have weakened in areas where they have adapted to an abnormal posture
  • Mirror Image® adjustments, using techniques such as Diversified, Thompson Drop-Table and Activator Methods®.
  • Mirror Image® Traction

The above strategy is often referred to as the E.A.T. protocol and has proven to be very successful in reducing scoliosis, usually taking between two and three months to see significant change.
